Position Summary
SUMMARY:
Develops, implements, and manages the credit policies and procedures at the credit union. Ensures compliance with regulatory standards, minimizing credit risk, and optimizing the credit union’s portfolio.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

a. Leads the team in managing all aspects of commercial credit operations.
b. Oversees credit underwriting and approval processes.
2. Organizational Effectiveness: Communicates and assists in achieving the credit union’s mission statement, core values, and goals.
a. Responsible for the development, implementation, and attainment of long term strategic objectives, annual budget, and growth goals for the functional areas supervised.
b. Executes the Credit Union’s credit risk strategy aligned with their policy, culture, and mission.
c. Provides strategic direction on loan portfolio management to achieve optimal risk-return balance that aligns with the Credit Union’s mission.
d. Communicates credit risk assessments and strategies to the Board, Executive Management, and regulators as required.
3. Decision Making/Judgment: Makes prudent decisions that are timely, well thought out, and that reflect awareness of impact to the credit union, the member, and/or others involved.
a. Analyzes credit trends and provide insights for decision-making.
b. Establishes and enforces credit limits and exposure/concentration guidelines.
c. Monitors and manages the Credit Union’s credit risk exposure and ensure adherence to regulatory standards.
d. Evaluates all large or high-risk credit requests.
4. Initiative: Performs job responsibilities independently and responsibly while keeping the best interest of the credit union and members in mind. Proactively completes tasks, solves problems, shares ideas, improves processes, enhances products, and/or extends services within assigned range of authority.
a. Serves as the subject matter expert for developing practices and procedures related to commercial credit operations.
b. Leads the design of credit products, policies, and risk assessment models.
c. Conducts periodic reviews of credit activities and policies.
d. Prepares and presents reports on credit performance, risks, and other relevant matrices to executive leadership and the board.
e. Collaborates with other Senior Management to align credit practices with the credit union’s financial and operational goals
Education & Experience
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: Bachelor’s degree in finance, business administration, accounting, or a related field.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: Strong knowledge of credit risk models, financial analysis, and regulatory requirements.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: A minimum of 10 years’ experience in credit risk management, lending, or a related field. Proven track record in a leadership role within banking, financial services, or credit focused organizations.
SKILLS/ABILITIES: Exceptional leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills. Effective communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with stakeholders at all levels. Proficiency with using credit evaluation and risk management tools. Ability to work effectively with others in a cooperative and collective environment. Ability to prioritize, organize time, and work independently.
