Position Summary
SUMMARY:
The Senior Vice President (SVP) is a pivotal leadership role. This person’s contributions will be highly influential on our bank achieving its strategic goals. As a key member of our senior management team, the SVP will have its primary focus on leading the lending function of the bank.
We are seeking a locally focused, highly motivated, and experienced Senior Leader to join our growing community bank. Although not exclusively, the Senior Vice President’s primary focus will be on growing our loan portfolio and leading our lending team. Their leadership will extend to driving loan growth, identifying and mitigating credit risk, leading our team of talented lenders, and ensuring compliance with the applicable regulatory requirements. To be effective, this person will need to embody the idea of community banking.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Working as an individual and as the leader of your team, your goals will be focused on:
· Strategic Leadership – To align the lending functions with the organizational and strategic vision of the bank
· Team Development – Build and develop a high performing lending team, this includes front line loan originators and the people who support them
· Business Development – As an individual and as the leader of your team, you will generate new business opportunities with the focus of profitably growing both our loan portfolio as well as all of the related service lines offered by the bank.
· Lending Philosophy – As an individual and as a leader of your team, develop and articulate our tolerance and approach to various forms of credit risk. These skills will also be critical in successfully negotiating, structuring, and developing comprehensive loan presentations for our prospects and clients.
· Ethical Standards – Our expectation will be to always approach our work with integrity and hold ourselves and our teams to the highest ethical standards.
· Loan Underwriting – Conduct, either directly or through our team, in-depth credit analysis, including the review of financial statements, cash flow projections, and risk assessment.
· Portfolio Management – Oversee the ongoing monitoring of both your individual customer portfolio and the portfolio of your team. This includes identifying and implementing training resources needed to support your team’s growth.
· Policy and Compliance – Develops, maintains, and ensures adherence to all lending policies, regulatory rules, and the overall compliance environment. This person will also have direct contact with our internal auditors and external bank examiners.
· Internal and Community Leadership – As a community bank, we recognize our value to the community is defined by the actions of our team. A successful candidate, and the teams they lead, will be a visible and respected part of the communities we serve.
Education & Experience
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
· Demonstrated exposure to the principals and spirit of successful community banking
· Bachelor’s degree in finance, business administration, or a related field. A graduate degree, or a willingness to pursue one, is encouraged as well as Graduate School of Banking
· Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in Commercial, and/or Ag Lending, with a demonstrable track record of success.
· Strong understanding of credit analysis, loan structuring, and risk management principles.
· Excellent business development, communication, and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to work both independently and to lead your team.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
· Prefer Formal credit training.
· Prefer strong Credit skills and experience with portfolio management.
