Position Summary

SUMMARY:

A Mortgage Loan Officer at the Bank is a critical member of the Bank’s overall team.  This role requires a person that enjoys meeting new people and is excited about building long lasting sound business relationships.  A successful loan officer must desire to take ownership of the impact this position can have on the earnings potential of the bank.  Effective communication with customers and bank staff is required as are strong leadership and decision-making skills. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve the needs of the banking customer seeking residential loans.
  • Develop and maintain banking relationships with potential clients, existing customers, and community organizations.
  • Maintain a strong, visible and positive presence through public relations activities in community events and clubs.
  • Ensure quality control of new accounts, deposit account maintenance, and customer transactions to ensure compliance with regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Makes decisions on loans and terms if within the bank’s lending limits or makes recommendations to a superior if outside the limits. 
  • Follows current loans and lines of credit to ensure conformity with terms and to gain knowledge of developing customer trends as well as monitoring how the credit performs.
  • Study industrial, commercial and financial situations relating to new or existing businesses.
  • Manages and collects delinquent loans within assigned portfolio in a way that conforms to bank’s assigned parameters.
  • Responsible for overseeing the administration of the loans that you have made.
  • Attend meetings as needed/required, prepare accurate reports as requested by management.
  • Foster a positive and diverse team environment.
  • As an officer of the bank, it is important that you promote and represent the bank in a positive manner while at work and outside of work.  Maintain a professional appearance.
  • Cross sell Bank products and services.
  • Completes all training as required by management.
  • Complies with BSA/AML training and reports any suspicious activity to BSA officer.
  • Complies with all Bank policies and banking regulations.

Education & Experience

  • Must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • NMLS licensing preferred.
  • Must have interpersonal skills, great attention to detail, and financial knowledge to help borrowers make informed decisions.
  • 2+ years of current mortgage loan officer or mortgage loan processor or underwriter experience required.
  • Knowledge of different loan types and documents preferred but not required.
