Position Summary


Takes lead in developing and servicing commercial loan and deposit relationships within the credit union’s-chartered area. Provides commercial credit union members and potential members with courteous and efficient loan service while maintaining a high-quality commercial loan portfolio according to credit union policies. Contributes to developing strategies to reach organizational goals and provides leadership to ensure others are maximizing their contributions to the credit union as well.



  1. Loan/Credit Performance: Demonstrates effectiveness in making loan decisions and/or managing a loan portfolio.
  2. Interviews new and existing commercial members, analyzes financials, and makes recommendations to supervisor or credit committee.
  3. Ensures all loans are underwritten, approved or denied, and closed according to credit union policies.
  4. Works with members having financial difficulty or problems making regular payments.
  5. Monitors and inspects collateral to ensure lien position and value of collateral.
  6. Is well versed in evaluating financial statistics for various types of commercial entities and for interpreting the trends they may forecast.


  1. Initiative: Performs job responsibilities independently and responsibly while keeping the best interest of the credit union and members in mind. Proactively completes tasks, solves problems, shares ideas, improves processes, enhances products, and/or extends services within assigned range of authority.
  2. Manages and collects assigned commercial loan portfolios and works with any member having financial difficulty or problems making regular payments.
  3. Takes a lead on finding solutions to keep the department operating effectively, efficiently, and on track to meet loan and deposit goals of the credit union.
  4. Remains up-to-date on insurance products and other services offered by the credit union and cross sells when appropriate for the member.
  5. Provides leadership to others within the department.
  6. Is familiar with and adheres to all aspects and provisions of regulations and policies as they pertain to the individual’s assigned job duties.

  2. Retains a reasonable amount of contact with the credit union when out of the office for business purposes.
  3. Responds to calls received outside of normal business hours as needed.
  4. Maintains the confidentiality of member, employee, and credit union information.

  1. Assists Credit Analysts in preparing credit presentations.
    1. Works as scheduled to provide consistent service to the membership as well as the commercial team.


  1. Dependability: Follows-through on assignments and completes them in a timely and competent manner. Is self-directed, takes initiatives, and is proactive. Can be relied upon to be regular and consistent in attendance and/or punctuality.
  2. Takes a proactive role in developing positive relationships with businesses and community and civic organizations to promote goodwill.
  3. Establishes and maintains a calling program resulting in the development of new commercial relationships.
  4. Prepares and presents loan requests for Board approval as outlined in Commercial Lending policies.

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in business, agriculture, or a similar field or equivalent experience.

Valid driver’s license as some travel is required.


Proficient with Windows and Microsoft Office software.

Proficient with various lending software packages.


A minimum of five years business lending experience.

Proven ability to achieve effective sales results in a member centric, branch environment.

Prior experience analyzing financial statements for various types of commercial entities.


Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.

The ability to work in direct, professional contact with a wide variety of people on a daily basis.
