Position Summary

SUMMARY:

This position supports the Bank’s mission by generating commercial loans and deposits that are profitable with a manageable level of risk and maintaining the existing portfolio for maximum income and reduction of potential loss, while providing outstanding customer service that will encourage all customers to use the Bank as their primary financial service provider. This position is also responsible for the management of lending and administrative staff positions and is responsible for the achievement of departmental goals.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervises the origination process for all commercial business loans. Tasks include, but are not limited to, underwriting loans according to company policy and/or the directive of the Corporate Loan Committee or the EVP, Director of Commercial Banking. Also includes personal production.

 

Manages the commercial banking team that services an existing portfolio of commercial loans, and other commercial services to ensure all relationships are risk-rated appropriately and meet compliance with regulatory and Bank policies and procedures. Tasks include, but are not limited to, communicating with commercial banking customers by phone, personal contact and written correspondence.

 

Responsible for managing the process of new business development, including participating and/or leading our calling efforts on existing and potential customers. Tasks include, but are not limited to, making sales calls on non-customer prospects and also existing bank clients for customer retention.

 

Responsible for management of lending and administrative staff positions and is responsible for the achievement of departmental goals. Tasks include, but not limited to, promoting teamwork and providing motivational support to the Commercial Lending staff.

 

Provides direction and support to the Commercial Lending staff in order to increase the effectiveness of the department and enhance individual performance. Tasks include, but not limited to, conducting regular informational meetings with staff, establishing performance goals, coaching, reinforcing, and regularly reviewing performance.

 

Education & Experience

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business related field required
  • Secondary banking courses preferred

 

SKILLS:

  • Administrative, conceptual and supervisory skills required
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills required
  • Basic computer spreadsheet and word processing skills required

 

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 7-10 years in commercial lending experience required
  • Minimum 3-5 years of management/supervisory experience and 1-2 years in commercial credit/loan administration experience required

 

Occasional overnight, air and/or road travel is required. The ability to work late and/or flexible hours is required.
