Position Summary

The Assistant Branch Manager works directly with the Market President and the Branch Manager to oversee all aspects of Branch operations and Consumer Lending. Provide leadership and guidance for employees by providing excellent customer service with the highest degree of accuracy and professionalism. The position will assist in ensuring the branch is achieving the most profitable deposit and loan relationships and that it is performing in an operationally compliant and regulatory sound manner. The assistant branch manager performs any task in the absence of the bank manager and their supporting staff. The position will work with management to prepare for contingencies and assume critical responsibilities when needed. The position will also assume a variety of duties to better serve our customers by understanding and implementing our core values. The position requires a person that is individually driven, teamoriented, and thrives on delivering highly personalized customer service.

Responsibilities

Assistant Branch Manager Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Supervise the Branch in the absence of Branch Manager.
  2. Open/Close branch as needed.
  3. Open new accounts and perform account changes/updates.
  4. Handle/Follow up on customer questions and support.
  5. Oversee teller line and drive-up area to ensure all transactions are done accurately.
  6. Assist in hiring, training, and coaching employees of the branch
  7. Educates associates, customers, and surrounding community about best practices to achieve and maintain financial wellness in addition to emerging bank technology and digital solutions such as mobile, online and at-large ATM offerings.
  8. Maintain a comprehensive knowledge on policies, rules, and regulations.
  9. Ensure that every employee within their Bank represents the vision and mission of the Bank while setting the tone for the culture within their location.
  10. Coach less experienced staff on a regular basis.
  11. Oversee staff scheduling.
  12. Help support lenders at the branch by assisting in collecting documents to assist the loan process.
  13. Attend meetings as needed/required.
  14. Participate in community events supporting the bank’s visibility and outreach
  15. Perform other duties as assigned.

Consumer Lender Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Must register with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry (NMLS)
  2. Interviews consumer and residential loan applicants, collects and analyzes financial and related data. 3. May be responsible for entering data into the bank’s loan processing system and preparing proposals and correspondence to the borrower.
  3. Assists potential borrowers by explaining the loan process and follows-up with applicants.
  4. Takes ownership of customer concerns and questions and works with the customer closely to bring the loan to close.
  5. Submit loan requests to underwriting, if necessary, for formal qualification and approval.
  6. Works with Senior Lender and Branch Manager to ensure loan portfolio and production is meeting expectations.
  7. Uses knowledge of business, finance, banking, credit, and risk management to identify, recommend, and promote solutions that best serve the client and ensure profitability and safety and soundness of the portfolio.
  8. Attend required loan officer meetings and compile any required reports.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years of financial institution assistant management experience and consumer or residential lending or equivalent financial services experience.
  • Job experience with extensive customer contact in banking
  • Prior supervisory or management experience is a plus
  • Business degree or higher in business or a related field, accounting finance, economics, is a plus
  • Microsoft 365, internet proficiency, and loan systems experience
