Position Summary

The Loan Quality Manager is responsible for assisting the charters with maintaining a sound loan portfolio with respect to compliance with state and federal laws, rules and regulations and company lending policies, procedures, and processes. This position provides oversight and guidance for the review of the loan approval and documentation for commercial, mortgage, consumer, and SBA loan requests. This position also provides oversight and guidance for quality assurance of the boarding and servicing process through the loan life cycle.

Responsibilities

  1. Manages and implements First Line of Defense (FLOD) philosophy to identify and remediate process gaps that pose a risk to the company.
  2. Maintains comprehensive Quality Assurance framework covering Loan Servicing Operations to comply with all regulatory and investor requirements.
  3. Maintains thorough knowledge of the commercial, mortgage, consumer, SBA loan and any specialized lending processes.
  4. Leads staff to ensure test plan/process is properly and consistently executed, ensuring correct and timely review of responses from Operations.
  5. Acts as a resource and subject matter expert for department questions regarding servicing and compliance issues as they relate to quality testing.
  6. Escalates significant risks and loss exposure to appropriate levels of management.
  7. Reviews data and analytics to identify trends and training opportunities.
  8. Communicates testing details and progress of remediation plans to management to reduce risk of reoccurring findings.
  9. Provides frequent coaching and feedback to QA specialists and structures assignments based on developmental growth.
  10. Responsible for maintaining the department’s policies and procedures.
  11. Participates in Merger, Acquisition and Conversion Activities.
  12. Maintains expertise in Quality Control and Compliance rules and regulations through participation in industry educational programs, publications, and or additional training to stay apprised of industry trends

 

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree and/or 10+ years’ relevant experience within a lending/credit or loan servicing environment.
  2. 5+ years’ experience in management / leadership role. Proven success in coaching and motivating a team. Judgement, decision making, and complex problem-solving skills are essential.
  3. Strong knowledge of the laws regulating commercial, consumer, mortgage and SBA loans and ability to apply these requirements to business practices and systems.
  4. Experience with SOX control framework.
  5. Excellent communication skills and adept at handling conflict.
  6. Ability to partner with all levels of management to ensure effective implementation of time-sensitive initiatives and identify deficiencies and opportunities for improvement.
  7. Rapidly adapts to changing information, conditions and/or unexpected obstacles.
  8. Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
