Position Summary

The loan officer must also be able to determine the material strengths and weakness of an existing loan or loan request and be able to mitigate the weakness in order to improve the soundness of the bank. 

Responsibilities

  • Serve the needs of the banking customer seeking commercial and agricultural loans, lines of credit, and consumer loans.
  • Interviews commercial or agricultural loan applicants to develop information concerning their businesses, needs, desires, abilities, and earnings to determine whether a loan is an acceptable risk.
  • Makes decisions on loans and terms if within the bank’s lending limits, or makes recommendations to a superior if not.
  • Follows current loans and lines of credit to ensure conformity with terms and to gain knowledge of developing customer trends as well as monitoring how the credit performs.
  • Prepare presentations for approval and participations.
  • Study industrial, commercial and financial situations relating to new or existing businesses.
  • Manages delinquency rate within assigned portfolio in a way that conforms to bank’s assigned parameters.
  • Calls on potential or existing customers to develop new business and increase existing business.
  • Complies with all bank policies and banking regulations.
  • Responsible for the overseeing the administration of the loans that you have made.
  • As an officer of the bank, it is important that you promote and represent the bank in a positive manner while at work and outside of work.
  • Attend meetings as needed/required.
  • Complete bank training as required by bank management.
  • Cross sell bank products and services.
  • Complies with BSA/AML training and reports any suspicious activity to BSA officer.
  • Complies with all bank policies and banking regulations.
  • Any and all other duties as might be assigned to you.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent combination of coursework and work experience.

Minimum 2-3 years’ experience, knowledge and training in Ag and Commercial activities, terminology and products and services relating to Ag and Commercial account customers, knowledge or life experience in agriculture and/or farming a definite plus

Strong computer skills

Intermediate knowledge of general office practices

Effective organizational and time management skills

Ability to work with minimal supervision while performing duties
