Position Summary

The Relationship Banker is responsible for providing a distinctive customer experience while performing sales and service activities at their branch location. Time is predominantly spent establishing new and deepening existing customer relationships, meeting a broad range of financial service needs.  Responsibilities include: 

  • Actively acquire new banking relationships and open new accounts (and consumer loan products)
  • Retain and deepen relationships by identifying needs and offering custom financial solutions 
  • Provide account servicing and maintenance
  • Assist with problem resolution for customers
  • Educate customers on digital bank solutions that will make their lives safer, easier, and better  
  • Refer customers to internal business partners (i.e. cash management, mortgage, and wealth management), and keep informed of, and strictly adhere to all bank procedures and industry regulations 

Responsibilities

SALES – 60% 

Contribute to branch sales growth and customer retention goals through the following performance expectations: 

  • Develops and cultivates long-term business and consumer relationships. 
  • Serve as a lender of consumer products. 
  • Profile existing customers to maintain and expand banking relationships. 
  • Identify and maintains a database of active prospects. 
  • Expand single service households by proactively soliciting current customer base for cross-sell opportunities that create value. 
  • Increase customer engagement through ongoing follow-up and meaningful conversations. 
  • Actively participate in community events and network to market and promote Bank products and services, in order to expand the customer base. 
  • Create custom financial solutions which include appropriate deposit account recommendations, reflecting a deep understanding of customer needs.  
  • Pursues sales opportunities and cross sells appropriate life insurance products.  
  • Refers customers to other areas of the Bank as appropriate. 

 

SERVICE – 20% 

  • Research and perform account and customer related changes as requested. 
  • Build and strengthen customer relationships through the consistent delivery of all facets of the Bank’s Distinctive Customer Service Model which includes: Why we do business, How we do it differently, and What we deliver, for the purpose of generating loyal customers 
  • Processes wire transfers/fund transfers. 
  • Mitigate risk by identifying red flags and potential fraud as a result of knowing your customers. 
  • Resolve customer issues in a tactful, effective manner and explain the Bank’s policies. 
  • Promote and explain our suite of digital products and services to increase use and security 
  • Follows up with customers 
  • Contacts customers regarding expiring CDs 
  • Resolve issues or refer to appropriate employee to ensure customer satisfaction and retention.   

 

ADMINISTRATIVE/OPERATIONAL- 10% 

  • Ensure operational integrity through compliance with and staying current on all regulatory requirements, policies and procedures. 
  • File related forms and other documents for account opening, maintenance and closing within required timeframes. 
  • Maintain confidentiality of information and records and shares information only as appropriate.   
  • May act on behalf of branch management in her/his absence. 
  • May open and close branch as needed. 

 

COACHING/PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT – 10% 

  • Assists Universal Bankers, as needed, to open, maintain and close all deposit products and services.   
  • Assist less experienced staff with problem resolution. 
  • Serves as a resource or mentor for other team members 
  • Ensure all communications related to your liaison roles are understood by coworkers, and continuously develop their ability to confidently apply new knowledge and skills. 
  • Satisfies continuing education requirements to maintain professional certifications as necessary and to maintain proficient knowledge of all banking rules and regulations. 

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience: 

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in retail banking with an emphasis on account opening, product/service problem resolution and relationship development 
  • Working knowledge of consumer lending products 
  • Basic keyboarding skills and the ability to navigate in a ‘windows’ environment 
  • Proven ability to refer clients to a full-range of consumer and business financial products 

 

Preferred Education and Experience: 

  • College degree strongly preferred 
  • Proficient with MS Office products including Word and Excel 
  • Wisconsin life license
